One of the novels of 2020 is how I would describe Sarah Moss’s Summerwater. The novel takes place over one day in holiday camp of wooden huts by the edge of a Scottish loch. This is a masterful insight into the lives of ordinary people.
We meet twelve people who are cooped up in the cabins because of the incessant rain. With little else to do and nowhere to go, they watch the other residents and wonder about their lives.
Each person and family is a microcosm of Britain today and provides
Sarah Moss has the amazing ability to put words onto a page and create a masterpiece. Summerwater would be one of my top books of 2020.
I cannot say more than go buy a copy of this book and read it.
