Six neighbours, six secrets, six reasons to want Olive Collins dead. In the exclusive gated community of Withered Vale, people’s lives appear as perfect as their beautifully manicured lawns. Money, success, privilege – the residents have it all. But do they, it appears not when Olive is found dead in her house and their secrets all begin to be exposed.
Each of the main characters have dedicated chapters in which you hear their side of the tale including and most enjoyably Olive. You know she is dead at the beginning of the book with hers being the first voice you read. As the story unfolds it turns out that each family has their secrets and Jo manages to weave is many of the issues in Ireland today seamlessly in the plot. There is an absolutely cracking range of characters and many you’d never want as your neighbours. For a variety of reasons that unfold as the story progresses turns out that they’d all liked to have killed Olive but did any of them? And that’s the big question that keeps you totally engrossed with several red herrings thrown in to keep you guessing until the end, with Olive having the final say.
If you like your books that are varied, well written, entertaining, gripping without any gruesome murders this is the book for you. I would highly recommend it, I loved it.
