The perfect crime novel which kicks off at a pace when Tuva is told her best friend, Tammy, has gone missing. Now living in Malmo and sober she has been trying rebuild her life. The dramatic news of her friend takes her back to her hometown of Gavrik to help in the search.
She returns at the height of Midsommar with festivities taking place all over the area. The town is packed with secrets for her and everywhere Tuva turns she meets someone from her past.
There are wonderful vivid descriptions of the landscape, life in the town and the seasons. Brilliantly atmospheric you get a real sense of small-town Sweden. The town is surrounded by dark pine forest in which the sinister residents of Snake River live. They are hugely suspicious of outsiders and these scenes add to the creepy element of the plot.
This is the third in the series about newspaper reporter, Tuva and I’ll definitely be buying the first two to read – Dark Pines and Red Snow.
Three words sum up this super novel: gripping, intense and atmospheric. What more could a reader ask for. If you like crime novels that get under the skin of small town this is the book for you. Go buy today.
